Surgery lighting

The required level of illumination in the premises of surgical departments is provided by closed-type lamps with solid diffusers.

Lighting requirements

• General lighting in operating rooms is organized in the range of 500-1000 lux.
• Directly on the operating table, here the level of illumination can reach 10,000 lux.

A gradual change in brightness from a brightly lit operating table to lower light levels in the rest of the room is required. The illumination intensity of the surgical field should be related to the brightness of the illumination of the immediate surroundings of the surgical field approximately as 2:1. The ratio of the brightness of other surfaces of the operating room to the brightness of the surgical field should be no more than 1 to 10.

Lighting equipment should create the highest quality light - without flickering, pulsations. To prevent eye fatigue, LED lamps are used, which create an even diffused light. At the same time, the luminaires should create light with a high level of color rendering: Ra> 80.

The work of a surgeon is associated with high-precision actions, attention to detail is important here, nurses evaluate the color of the patient's skin and nails. Distortion by artificial light of the natural color of objects and surfaces is excluded, since the life and health of the patient depends on this.

The color temperature of lighting devices in the operating room is chosen so that the light is as close as possible to natural daylight: from 4000 to 5500 K.

For general lighting of operating rooms and rooms where preparation for operations is carried out, built-in and pendant LED lamps are used. All surfaces are regularly wet-cleaned with special liquids to achieve sterility, so the luminaires must have a moisture-proof IP65 housing, while the luminaire diffuser must be resistant to disinfectant liquids.
