Modular luminaire HOKASU Molecule
Modular luminaires in the shape of a molecule can be adapted to any scenario: placed on their own or joined together. This is widely used in offices, where such luminaires are placed over the staff's workplaces. The series includes models with a light emitting width of 45 mm and 30 mm.
Application
We recommend the Molecule series for the office: over workplaces, in a conference hall, in a meeting room and in corridors. The luminaire works on its own or in a group, to zone a space with light and build lighting compositions in an interior.
The advantage
HOKASU engineers saw the drawback of earlier models and came up with a new answer: a profile with an extra compartment for the power supply. The power supply no longer has to be fixed to the base of the housing: a dedicated compartment hides the power supply inside the luminaire.
Installation
The harmony and style of the series meet practical installation. No opening has to be cut in the ceiling: the profile is hung on suspensions or mounted on the surface.
If the project calls for suspended mounting, the luminaire is fixed to the structural ceiling with a collet suspension, sold separately. A secure fixing and a convenient collet suspension let the luminaire be set at the height you need.
An alternative to suspension is surface mounting with self-tapping screws. The housing can be fixed to any surface (ceiling or wall) without breaking into it. A luminaire like this suits a room with a low ceiling perfectly.
Distinctive characteristics
A linear luminaire is a profile with light modules fitted inside it. A power supply and 2 end caps are also included. The finished luminaire connects to the 220V mains. Modules with a matt diffuser and a wide 120° beam give a high level of visual comfort and rule out glare.
Further options
- A longer suspension and connecting cable;
- The housing painted in any RAL colour;
- Luminaires made with dimming;
- Production of an RGB version of the luminaires.

Construction
If the project calls for a standard-size luminaire (625, 1250, 2500 mm), all you need in addition is the fixing for suspended or surface mounting.
Housing — made in Russia by HOKASU
The profile is made of 6063 aluminium alloy (AD31 // GOST 4784-97) and is press-quenched to reach its strongest state T6. The surface is treated on an Italian anodising line «Qualanod» – the luminaire housing is highly resistant to scratches and corrosion.
Diffuser — made in Europe
The modern answer for a linear luminaire is diffusers built on the patented HGC, HPC and HHC technologies.
Technology HOKASU Glare Control (HGC) was developed specifically for commercial spaces. On the basis of this technology we make clear and prismatic diffusers with high light transmission and a pleasing geometric lighting effect. HGC diffusers comply with the UGR (Unified Glare Rating) standard and raise the lighting efficiency of commercial spaces to as much as 90%.
Coextrusion technology HOKASU Protect Cover (HPC) made it possible to develop a diffuser with plain light transmission and a long service life. Every diffuser is made of two materials:
- Polycarbonate. Used for resistance to external influences and high temperatures. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use;
- Acrylic. To prevent yellowing under ultraviolet light. Throughout its service life — and that is more than 10 years — the luminaire keeps its light quality without any shift in colour temperature.
HOKASU Heat Control (HHC) is a special polycarbonate whose heat dissipation is 10 times higher than that of ordinary untreated plastic. The main factor in a luminaire's longevity is good cooling of the LED modules, which matters greatly at the design stage. A reminder: the basis of a HOKASU linear luminaire is aircraft-grade aluminium. The only part that conducts heat poorly is the diffuser. With this in mind we developed a polycarbonate using HHC technology, which raised heat dissipation in the finished luminaire.
Patented German light-diffusing polycarbonate granules are used to make the diffusers.
The diffuser does not change colour over its entire service life (more than 10 years).
Two diffuser options are available:
- Colour opal (75% light transmission). Coextrusion technology + UV protection on both sides, "HEP – HOKASU protect cover";
- Clear polycarbonate with a microprism.
HOKASU LED modules
The HOKASU LED module has a high colour rendering index, CRI>85 — a figure worth weighing when lighting a room of any kind.
Modern chips with an efficacy above 140 lm/W earn the luminaire an A++ energy class. Even counting the losses in the diffuser, the luminous flux reaches 110 lm/W — the best figure for this kind of equipment anywhere.
The aluminium base dissipates heat actively, which extends the life of the LEDs and protects the board from physical damage. The module beats any high-power LED strip for reliability.
Every module is made under Japanese quality control and tested in the laboratory.
Colour temperature
The luminaires use highly efficient Japanese LED modules that guarantee a high colour rendering index (CRI>85) and a shade within the strict ranges 2900-3100K and 3900-4100K. Every module has been tested in the laboratory and checked against a strict quality standard. Statistically, more than 80% of lighting projects worldwide are built with light sources of 4000K.
Customisation
If you want a luminaire of non-standard size, or a configuration of several luminaires (a square, a triangle, a run from wall to ceiling), the linear luminaire base is what you need. The base set: the luminaire housing and the LED modules.
Several small luminaires of bespoke length can be made from a single base. For that you will need to buy power supplies, end caps and a mounting system. A version for damp areas can also be ordered.
If choosing the equipment gives you trouble, we are glad to help. Call us on 8 (499) 322-20-84 or send the project to sale@ulight.ru — we will calculate the lighting levels, select the equipment and make the luminaire in the configuration you need.
Control system
The considered design of HOKASU luminaires allows different control systems to be fitted:
- Luminaire control from a 2.4 GHz remote;
- Digital DALI control;
- Analogue control over the 1-10V protocol;
- An emergency lighting unit for 1 or 3 hours.
