Atlantica Bistro at Myasnitskaya 24

Atlantica Bistro — a ULIGHT lighting design project

Atlantica Bistro is a contemporary super fast casual restaurant opened in Moscow in the basement of a historic building with brick vaults. The project became a logical development of the Atlantica Restaurant concept, rethought for the dynamics of city life: fast, affordable, but with attention to detail, atmosphere and quality.

The key task of the lighting design was to create a comfortable, lively and visually "expensive" environment without excessive pomp — a space in which one wants to stay longer despite the fast service format.

Lighting concept

The lighting in Atlantica Bistro is built on the principle of pinpoint accent work with light. Instead of flooding the space evenly, directional light is used, which forms an intimate atmosphere and emphasises the architecture of the old basement.

  • The light is aimed exclusively at the tables and the key areas
  • The aisles and vaults remain in a soft half-light
  • No glaring light in the guests' field of view
  • A warm colour temperature for a feeling of cosiness

The restaurant's dining room

The main dining room uses track luminaires with narrow beam angles. Each fitting is aimed precisely at the table surface, forming islands of light and visually dividing the room into private zones. This solution creates a feeling of cosiness even at full capacity and emphasises the texture of the brick arches.

The luminaires were chosen with a minimalist design and compact dimensions so as not to compete with the historic architecture and to stay almost unnoticed.

Conclusion

The lighting solution from ULIGHT has become an important part of the architectural image of Atlantica Bistro in Moscow. The lighting does not dominate but works as a tool of atmosphere: it directs attention, emphasises textures and makes the space lively, warm and welcoming — exactly what a contemporary city restaurant should be.
